Suppose you get lucky and somehow end up getting a hefty payday, the first place you’ll end up cashing out in would probably be Dubai.
The small city located in the coastal regions of United Arab Emirates is a global hub of luxury, modern architecture and lively nightlife. If you’re rich and famous, or both, this is your ultimate destination.
However, the world has a very stereotypical view of the skyscraper-dominated-city. Some even think that it’s an advanced global city with robots, toilets made of gold and other wildly fantasized expectations. Sure, while some of it may be true, the city also contains situations and realities which you may not be able to imagine.
Every car on the road is a Supercar
From the police to rich individuals, people do own these million dollar cars and flaunt them on the streets of this artificially constructed heaven of a city but that’s not the case for everyone.
So if you’re heading to Dubai with expectations that Audi’s roam the streets like some sort of cab service then you may get a little disappointed, but hey, at least you’ll get to see them roaming around.
Drinking is common due to so many Expats living there
People from around the world, especially those from conservative countries tend to plan holidays to Dubai in hopes of partying hard and getting wasted every other night. If you plan your trip to Dubai with that in mind, then you might as well go down to the States because that is definitely not happening in Dubai. Dubai has strict laws against alcohol. Sure you may find alcohol in some restaurants but it isn’t very common, oh and if you’re planning on drinking at home, you need a license for that too.
You are definitely going to bump into some celebrity
If you keep up with the latest gossip, you will always hear about some celebrity making a trip to Dubai for one reason or another. It’s true that many celebrities own properties in Dubai, but casually bumping into Brad Pitt at the airport or at one of the malls is unlikely to happen. Celebrities in Dubai like to keep a low profile and want their privacy to be respected. Heartbreaking!
Everybody in Dubai has a massive bank account
While it may be true that most millionaires and billionaires have made Dubai a playground for their cash and luxurious lifestyles, the same cannot be said about the 3 million people that reside there. Poverty exists everywhere and it hasn’t spared Dubai either.
Apart from the tycoons, the migrant workers and laborers survive in harsh conditions and low pay. The Dubai dream isn’t for everyone.
