Pets.com & Kozmo.com
The New York Times reported, that Amazon had put in about $60 million of capital into Kozmo.com; it closed down after a few years. Similarly, Amazon invested in another online retailing company called Pets.com which shut down in 2002; Amazon had bought 50 percent of the stakes along with financing $50 million.
A venture that shut down in about 6 months, Amazon Destinations focused on the local getaways and their reservations had closed off on October –a truly brief venture, that Bezos never spoke a lot about.
Introducing to its customers, the facility of storing loyalty cards as well as gift cards, the venture died out because the consumers weren’t allowed credit or debit card storage.
