Before giving his much-needed advice to the all the youngsters out there, Bill took us back to the days when he saw a computer terminal for the first time in his school and ever since then, while he was just 13,  he was obsessed about programming. He told that the machine was huge and slow (without even a screen) but he was still lost in it all day. After he was introduced to the subject of Computer Science, he then used to spend hours learning about computers and coding.

“everyone can benefit from learning the basics of computer science. The questions it teaches you to ask — How do you accomplish a task? Can you find a pattern? What data do you need? — are useful no matter where you go in life.”

Continuing with what his husband had to share as an expert advice for developing a career, Melinda also expressed a similar point of view during the Computer Science Education Week in 2017. Melinda related computer literacy as an essential skill to change the world.

“The more we encourage different kinds of people to get interested in technology the better that future will be.”

But the icing on the cake was Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, who we believe is just like many others struggling to find their right space. He shared his opinion on the similar thing by confessing that while he was choosing his career path at the age of 20, he had a massive interest in computer science.

In order to test himself, he took a Computer Science class offered at his high school in Columbia, Maryland. But after meeting with some computer majors at the University of Virginia, he lost his confidence. He eventually got enrolled into history major later but he believes that life would have been a lot more different if he had the courage to pursue Computer Science at that time.

While relating himself to the current millennial generation, Alexis encourages everyone around him who ask for a career advice to go and try out a Computer Science class. You can become a multi-millionaire with the help of companies like Reddit but that is just luck. If one wants a consistent career in which they want to grow themselves into something big then may be it is the right time to test your computer skills and take a leap forward.
