The world can be a cruel place sometimes. Sure, we all have our fair share of battles to fight, sometimes in secret. But there are some that break our hearts collectively as a general population.
Something that is devastating to pretty much every heart beating in the face of this planet is the pain in the eyes of a child. It is at this point that race, religion, culture, nothing matters not even for a second. And the world comes together to do whatever they can to help the young soul.
Children are considered blessings everywhere. They are innocent, full of joy and can do no wrong. Which is why discomfort to them is discomfort for everyone who witnesses it. But the most amount of pain is felt by the parent of the child. The people responsible for bringing the life into this world are broken at the mere thought of their offspring getting hurt. It’s in our nature after all.
While a majority of the kids born are lucky enough to grow without any problems, there are unheard stories of those who barely make it through the night. And those who suffer immense pain from their first breath onwards. 3-year-old Holly from Tipperary, Ireland is one of those unfortunate kids.
Holly suffers from Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a condition that restricts normal blood flow through the heart. This phenomenon occurred during pregnancy, where the left side of Holly’s heart was not formed correctly. What’s even worse is that she has spent the last 11 months of her life in a hospital, patiently waiting for a new heart in order to stabilize her condition.
Holly came into this world in the worst possible condition anyone could. She had to be moved to another hospital, in Crumlin, Dublin by the name of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital.
