And while they were, of course, shocked, the family quickly recovered showering the infant with love and affection. Meanwhile, Rubia resigned from her job so she could provide her daughter with the care and support she would need.
Childhood can be a tough time for most children. And for children with Down’s syndrome, it can be especially difficult. As a child, Georgia was bullied and had to switch schools numerous times – all the while struggling to fit in. But while the outside world could often be cruel Georgia had her mother’s full support and love. Having quit her job Rubia spent her days playing, singing and dancing with her daughter in an attempt to socialize her. And clearly, it worked.

The initial picture uploaded by Rubia quickly gained more than a thousand likes. And this was a shocking yet pleasant surprise for the mother-daughter duo. Encouraged by the outpouring of love and support from the community Rubia began sharing more and more pictures of her daughter hoping to inspire and encourage other mothers with Down’s syndrome children. And soon enough the young girl’s steadily increasing online presence garnered the attention of local modeling agencies.

As a result of her modeling contracts, Georgia has been able to star in a popular Brazilian commercial, as well as, shoot with a top Brazilian jewelry designer. Obstacles and Hardships
Social media is capable of bringing great success and causing terrible pain simultaneously. In an interview with her mother, Rubia admitted both she and her daughter struggle when people dismiss their struggle and attribute Georgia’s success to her blonde hair and blue eyes. However, despite the hardships and online hate, Rubia says she knows her daughter’s success is because of her talent and hard work. And she encourages other parents of Down’s syndrome children to stay strong and not give up. Because their children are just as capable of breaking boundaries and achieving their dreams.
