When was the last time that someone taunted you for being so lazy? Well if you are someone who gets this a lot (like me), then this new research is definitely going to be a gift for you which proves that people who spend most of their time lazing around are more intelligent.
Lazy people aren’t successful people? Well, it turns out they most likely can be! There is a recent study which got published in The Independent about how people with higher IQ lose their focus and get bored easily. They then tend to be more engaged in their thoughts rather than doing something else. On the other hand, people who are more active, have a different take. They depend on doing external activities in order to escape the period of boredom.
This study was conducted on the Florida Gulf Coast and was based on a test given to a group of students. The questions included in the tests were majorly about how people would respond to statements like ‘I really enjoy a task that involves coming up with new solutions and problems’, and ‘I only think as hard as I have to.’
It was supervised by Todd McElroy who picked up 30 ‘thinkers’ and 30 ‘non-thinkers’ for the study. Those who got selected were then monitored for straight seven days through a device that they had to wear on their wrists. It was supposed to track down their activity level each day.
When the results came out, it was proved that those who think more were less active than the ones who claimed themselves to be non-thinkers. These findings were then published in the Journal of Health Psychology with statistical terms like “highly significant” and “robust”.
However, there was particularly no difference in the results on the weekends. Both types of people didn’t do much activity and the reason for it has not been explained in the research yet.
