We’re well aware of the fact that Stephen Hawking was an atheist. Hawking always said that there is, in fact, a ‘grand design’ behind the universe but isn’t in any way related to god. His comments regarding the afterlife further perpetuated his beliefs.

He said that our brain works as a computer and once it becomes too exhausted to work, it’s components will break down. According to him, the concept of an afterlife is a fairytale made by people who are too afraid to face the dark. For someone who believed that the universe is governed by science, this hardly comes as a shocker.
